Paying for Assisted Living and Nursing Home Costs

Posted by EMcDonough in Veteran’s BenefitsMedicaid BenefitsLong Term CareElder Law Firm of Clements and Wallace P.L.Elder LawAssisted Living

Long term care costs including assisted living facilities have a wide range of costs depending on the level of care required. Assisted living facilities that provide an extended care unit can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month. Nursing homes can cost as much as $7,500 per month. Each facility may offer many levels of care, with different monthly charges. Add on fees in addition to the regular monthly fee, can raise the costs. Laundry services or transportation services are examples of extra costs. Consider how you or your family will pay these costs.
In Florida, Medicaid programs provide benefits that can be used to help pay the cost of assisted living and nursing home care. VA benefits might also be available. Long term care insurance is an alternative for help but the cost is often too high for the elderly population. Otherwise personal assets will be consumed to pay the extraordinary expenses of long term care. A Certified Elder Law Attorney can assist with the ins and outs or tapping into government benefits and put together a congruent holistic approach to elder care.

Nursing Housing Costs
written by Senior Housing Costs, January 22, 2012
Nursing homes are ideal for older adults who require living assistance and constant care. When choosing a nursing home, families and their elder loved ones need to choose a facility that is affordable, comfortable and reputable. Thanks for the great post. smilies/smiley.gif
